Questions

Training at home, answered.

What equipment do I need for a home gym?

For most people, resistance tubes with a door anchor, a set of mini bands and a pair of core sliders cover the whole body. Add a foam roller for recovery. The starter kit on this page gets you going for under $90.

Can you build muscle with resistance bands?

Yes. Research comparing elastic resistance with free weights has found similar strength gains when people train equally hard. Move up a colour level as the reps get easy, or stack tubes on the Total Resistance Gym for heavier work.

How do I anchor a resistance tube to a door?

Slip the padded end of the anchor over the door at the height you need, on the hinge side, and close the door so it opens away from you. Clip the tubes to the loop and give them a firm pull before your first set. Full steps are in Safety and care.

How much space do I need to train at home?

About the length of a mat, with room to stretch your arms out. Every move in the 20-minute doorway workout fits in a hallway.

Train at home with PTP

Home gym equipment, explained.

Training at home works when the equipment is quick to set up and easy to put away. PTP's train at home range is built around resistance: tubes that clip to a door anchor, bands that sit around your legs, and core tools that need no more room than a mat. Together they cover strength, mobility and recovery in a small apartment as well as a big house.

If you are starting out, pair Powertube+ resistance tubes with a mini band set like the Microband X Combo+. For a fuller setup, the Resistance System and the Total Resistance Gym bring several tube levels, handles and anchors together in one kit. Finish with core sliders, an ab wheel and a foam roller for recovery.

PTP gear works with the free PTP Training App: add your gear in the Gear tab and it recommends workouts for what you own. Not sure which resistance to pick? Find your band, on the Resistance bands page, asks a few questions and points you to a starting level.
